Formal Presentation Report

Date: Wednesday 23thMay 2012

Venue: W007

Time: 1115

Topic: car accidents

                                           Reflection on Salem's  presentation

At the start  Salem  introduced  himself and explained the powerpoint about his subject, car accidents.

He then showed his index and explained how  car accidents happen and the damage that follow the accidents. On his powerpoint he showed   colorful pictures that showed how the driver can be distracted and that makes the driver not concentrate when he drives.

He asked and answered questions as he went along; when he was presenting his work Salem was comfortable and relaxed; the students were active with Salem’s presentation because both his body language and eye contact were excellent.

In discussion, Salem was disparaging about driving at a high speed and driving recklessly; also he said that when you drive on a highway it doesn’t make a huge difference in time from when you drive at a normal speed, and he advised the students about driving at high speeds.

New things which I learnt:

Most of the accidents are done by drivers who are 18-35 years, that is more than 50% of the total, and also I learned that the government is working hard to decrease the percentage.

·Minute taker: Khalid

·Participant: Ameer

Venue preparation:

v Grouping of chairs round table.

Agenda:

1) Build another branch outside Abu Dhabi

2) Change the time to start the classes after the peak time.

3) Give students who live far from ADMC more time for being late.

4) College provides transport (buses).

5) Increase number of online courses.

Build another branch outside Abu Dhabi

Ameer said it’s important and useful like Zayed University and ADWC. They built another branch outside Abu Dhabi in Khalifa City.

Hedley thought that ADMC has space to expand and this solution will be in the future.

Yousef said this solution gives more chance to accept more students in the new branch outside Abu Dhabi.

Change the time to start the classes after the peak time.

All Government departments and companies start at 8:00 am at the same time as the college.

Ameer said I leave my home at 7:00 am to reach the college at 8:00 am because I face heavy traffic on the way to the college. Also, sometimes there are accidents which impede traffic that make the student late.

Hedley agreed with this idea.

Give students who live far from ADMC more time for being late.

Hedley said I am not strict with the late in the morning classes. Ameer said I had an accident 3 days ago and I was half an hour late for the math class. Then I showed my teacher the paper for the accident but he marked me late.

College provides transport (buses).

Yousef said as you know all students have cars and make traffic jams. So the college should provide transport for the students. Hedley said do you think students will leave their cars and come by bus. Yousef said if I always come late I will come by bus, because the college will be responsible.

Increase number of online courses.

Khaled said this is the important point in the problem. Increase number of online courses to help students to do some homework at home.

Hedley suggested the college could teach a part of this course online such as submit reflections and reports online because we are in HCT.

Reflection on meeting

Reflection on meeting
Date: March 14, 2012
Venue: W007
Present:
Chairman: Yousef
Minute taker: Khalid
Participant: Ameer

Yousef opened the meeting in a suitable way that made the listener be careful and involved with the agenda.  He explained the agenda and the solutions for the problem and offered us some good solutions to avoid the delay.

Recommendations:

1) Offer online courses to students.

2)  Teacher kindly not to be too serious in the attendance for students that live away from the college.

3) The college can build a huge campus for the ADMC students outside the capital to reduce the percentage of late in the future.

4) The administration should do every semester a questionnaire for the students to ask them about the college. And gave other solutions to the college.

5) Change the time to start the classes after the peak time.

In conclusion I think that offering online courses for the student is the best solution because it will reduce the percentage of absences; also it will let the students search for the resources.
